Mosaic vs Boxy (briefly)

One product aiming at layout + HTML widgets — still BETA.

What Boxy-class tools do

Layout tweaks like Boxy, Griddy, and Atria mainly change icon grids / free placement. They usually do not ship XenHTML-style Lock/Home HTML art.

What Mosaic is trying to be

Mosaic targets both: grids + free-place and HTML widgets (SampleClock first, Xen/Zen-style packs). HomeClean’s vault/hide is merging in so home layout lives in one package.

Conflicts

For free-place, turn off Atria / Griddy / Boxy / FreeformGrid first. Mosaic soft-disables layout hooks when those are present — fighting multiple editors is a bad time.

Honesty

Mosaic is BETA. SampleClock + grids are the reliable start; free-place and richer widget UX are still burning in. If you need rock-solid Boxy-only behavior today, keep that — don’t expect Mosaic to be a finished replacement overnight.
